I have been doing a lot of software development and related work by now and there are some things I just don’t get. One of them is “Why are people not using repositories more?” and practice what I would call Repository Driven Development (RDD sic!). Once you are using them, the benefits are just so obvious, that it is hard to imagine why you would not want to allow easy reuse of your artifacts, seemless distribution, ease of use for your end users and more. In the spotlight
Having worked with Apache Maven since the Maven 1 days, committing on various open source projects around Maven and Maven usage, using Nexus and Hudson and finally writing the Android chapter of Maven: The Complete Reference, got me into working with the great people at Sonatype. And now they put me into the spotlight. It has been great working with Tim, Jason, Emily, Brian, Juven and all the others and I am looking forward to many more great projects we do together in the future.

Improving the mavenized JasperServer 3.7 sample webapp build
So in my last post I documented how to migrate the ant build from the JasperServer 3.7 Java sample web application to a maven based build and we got that happening pretty quickly. We ended up with an easier way to deploy the application, a much smaller checkout and clearer understanding of the dependencies. However looking closely, we can certainly improve matters. Lets see what we can do.
